We wanted to know for sure, so we tested two strains from Hamburg-based CBD040: Lemon Haze and Super Silver Haze. Both flowers fall into the "classic yet sophisticated" category. These aren't about a dull aroma—they're about strains with character.

And yes, the packaging says the whole thing isn't suitable for smoking. But we took the liberty of tasting the buds our way.

Lemon Haze – Freshness meets power

From the moment you open the bottle, you immediately notice that tangy citrus aroma typical of lemon varieties. Lime is clearly the dominant terpene here. Not a chemical lemon cleaner vibe, but more like fresh zest with a slightly earthy depth.

What particularly impresses us is that the scent lingers even during consumption. The lemony note carries through to the last puff without becoming overpowering.

Super Silver Haze isn't a blender, and that's a good thing. It's all about depth rather than volume. The aroma is somewhat more subtle, but beautifully resinous and classic. The flowers show good ripeness, which is evident from the slightly silvery appearance of the trichomes—hence the name.

Upon consumption, a pleasantly spicy flavor unfolds, slightly earthy—vibrant—but also fresh, with the classic hemp aroma. Everything is beautifully balanced without any terpene chaos.

Assessment:

• Character: balanced, smooth, old school with style
• Processing: dense buds, well dried, no stem surprises

Workmanship & quality: that's how it should be

What both varieties have in common:

• Very well dried, no moist crumbs
• Firm buds, but not rock hard – just right
• Can be easily crumbled with your fingers (no need for a grinder)
• Natural resinous - not that excessive resinousness that clogs the grinder
• No leaves, no stems, no junk – this is A-quality, as you would wish

The flowers appear well-cared for, not squeezed out of the bag or overripe. The scent also remains stable – even after days in the tin. This shows that this wasn't simply mass-produced, but that someone had a thorough understanding of drying and curing.

Consumption: Legal? Difficult. Clear? Yes and no.

Even though we know it, it must be said. CBD flowers are not permitted as smoking products in Germany. The products are officially sold as aroma products or air fresheners, and CBD040 clearly states this on every package.

Anyone who "tastes" the product does so at their own risk. Legally speaking, however, you're on the safe side when purchasing as long as the THC content isn't higher than 0.2% and the product is properly labeled.
